Charlotte and Amy

Charlotte and Amy’s wonderful wedding at Hellingly’s Blackstock Country Estate was such a joy to paint. It was so lovely to be around such warm, cheerful families and friends and wanted to show the love of both sets of parents in the painting.

I spent a lot of time painting the wooden beams, though my challenge was the light source, with doors on both the left and right of the ceremony, the shadows cast inwards instead of in one direction as one may imagine from a single light source. However, this serendipitously caused a lovely shaded area around the brides to create a strong contrast for their colourful confetti.
