Corey and Dan

A fabulous ceremony exit at The Venue on Middle Street, Croydon. Corey and Dan’s wedding was full of unique, personal touches, from their musical friends’ performances to the flock of hanging origami cranes, lovingly made by themselves.

In our video consultation, they mentioned how the ceiling beams create an Art Deco style setting to the room, so I made sure to feature these in the painting and aimed to get their matrix looking mathematically sound. I‘ve painted Corey tilting her head back, laughing and looking at Dan, so have foreshortened her face accordingly. I also wanted to show the texture of the skylights’ frosted glass. Similarly, I love how the real texture of the canvas shows the texture of Dan suit. So, instead of applying thick paint in my usual impasto style, I ran my brush over it lightly to show this up.
