Maithy and Ninad

Ninad and Maithy’s stunning Hindu wedding ceremony at the Three Rivers Country Club in Essex.

As usual, I arrived early to formulate a composition and lay down the under-painting, so when guests started to filter in, they could see the painting in its infant stage. I continued to paint during the ceremony and, afterwards, guests could see how the painting was progressing - especially as I’d sketched in the happy couple having just exchanged garlands and was, by then, adding detail to their portraits. I made sure to show the excited twinkle in the happy couple’s eyes. Other details I was intent on including were their intricately patterned outfits - particularly showing the form of her gorgeous saree - the Ganesh decorations, the symbolic pillars on stage and the deluxe reflective gold step.

After I continued to paint throughout the day, building up detail and chatting to guests, who loved seeing the painting develop. I stayed all evening to complete the piece for a ‘Big Reveal’ at the reception, which guests seemed to enjoy very much.
